Floral Fireworks

Floral Explosion

It seems to be party time at the moment, we've just got over the Halloween parties and we're now heading to bonfire parties this weekend.

To keep in the spirit we have designed this fun Floral Explosion bouquet. An ideal gift to take along for the party host.

This unique design contains, red Bouvardia, green spider Blooms, fiery red Grevillea foliage, flamey orange Lilies and flickering hot yellow Kangaroo paws.

A great gift that will truly warm the heart of your party host, or brighten your own party table.

Hope you all have a fun safe bonfire night.

Rainbow Roses

This week we have some very fun, unusual roses in the shop. They are called, "rainbow roses", produced by the Happy Rose Company.

Rainbow Rose, from the Happy Rose Company

They certainly are something a little different, and yes we think they really do make you smile. This is a flower that you either love or hate. Yes it has been manufactured to appear this way, it's not a wonder of nature. We think it has lots of possibilities and uses, from just a single flower in a vase to a massed riot of colour. What do you think?

Call into the shop now to have a good look yourself.

Tulips

Tulips are the most amazing and varied of all the Spring flowers. The colours, shapes and varieties available seem endless. We love to use them in designs, they are such a versatile flower. They look stunning on their own in a vase or mixed amongst other Spring flowers.
An interesting fact about Tulips is that they continue to grow after being cut, which is why you often see Tulips bending their necks and drooping over the edge of their vase, adding to their unique character and style.

Yellow Double Tulip.

                          Apricot Parrot Tulip.

The single Tulip is the most popular and widely available variety with Double Tulips and Parrot Tulips gaining in popularity. The double Tulips are multi-petalled and and tend to grow less once cut and have a longer vase life as a cut flower. The Parrot Tulips also have a longer vase life than the single varieties. They have a very distinctive appearance and were a popular choice in the Dutch Masters paintings.

If you love Tulips a trip to Holland this time of year is a must, the vibrant fields of Tulips scatter the landscape and look like the most amazing floral patchwork quilt.

Helping students with their project.

Had a very interesting and enjoyable day today. We were invited by a year 6 student at St John School, Beverley, to give help and advice on a project they are working on to grow, nurture and then sell Cosmos plants as a team challenge and to raise funds for the school.

I was very impressed by the young students I met, their enthusiasm, knowledge and the way they conducted themselves was a credit to themselves, their parents and the school.

It was a pleasure to be able to help them. As a thank you for my time I was presented with a parsnip the students had grown themselves. I was thrilled.
